At A Glance
The Blackmagic Design Hyperdeck Studio 2 is a 1RU rack-mountable, SSD-based video recorder designed to replace tape decks in broadcast and live production workflows. It captures uncompressed 10-bit 4:2:2 video in QuickTime, along with ProRes and Avid DNxHD/DNxHD MXF compressed formats, to dual 2.5" SATA SSDs that switch over automatically for continuous recording. Connectivity covers SD/HD signals up to 1080p30 via 3G-SDI and HDMI, making it suited for ISO recording, program mastering, and long-form logging in HD production environments. VTR-style illuminated controls and a jog/shuttle wheel give operators the tactile feel of a traditional deck, while RS-422, USB, and Ethernet ports support remote and automated control. Recorded SSDs can be pulled and mounted directly on a computer for file access without a separate ingest step.
